The oil port is located at a latitude of 29°22.9' north and a longitude of 34°57.8' east in the Gulf of Aqaba. This port holds significant economic importance as it's the only port specialized in supplying the Kingdom with petroleum derivatives, crude oil, and chemicals. The port was established in 1985 for the purpose of oil exports, the port's operational export activities commenced in 1986. Due to the Kingdom's need for crude oil and other petroleum products, the port was upgraded for import purposes in 1996, to be used for handling crude oil, petroleum products, chemicals, and mineral oils, equipped with the latest handling equipment and international-standard safety and firefighting systems.
